Scott Peterson GUILTY

LOS ANGELES — A California jury has found Scott Peterson guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Laci, and guilty of second-degree murder in the death of their unborn son.

The first-degree murder verdict carries either the death penalty or life in prison without parole.

Peterson was found guilty of killing his pregnant wife, Laci, and dumped her body in San Francisco Bay. Laci Peterson vanished Dec. 24, 2002. The bodies of Laci and the baby were found in April 2003 along the San Francisco Bay.

The double-murder trial began in March.

After a day off for Veterans Day, jurors resumed deliberations Friday. The panel was working without its foreman, who was dismissed Wednesday. The judge did not reveal the reason for the dismissal.

His replacement has a connection to the defendant: The juror’s future son-in-law owns a restaurant once owned by Scott and Laci Peterson.

Another juror was removed earlier in the week. She was accused of doing her own research on the case.

The only thing that worries me about the verdict is the 2nd degree murder verdict on the baby… although it’s all following the law (which Bush passed through), it’s annoying to me because I see the whole unborn thing as a step on the path to overturning Roe vs. Wade.

    Ah well.

was the baby found inside Laci? It’s a sick question but that matters right?

Regarding the baby…it was found outside her body. In fact, it was the baby’s body that was found first when it washed up on shore before Laci’s body was found. And the 2nd degree murder verdict came about as the result of the determination that the premeditation was for her murder and not the baby’s since the baby was not yet born. The death of the baby was still considered a murder since she was far enough along in her pregnancy (8 mos) that the fetus could have been born alive at that point. Don’t know whether that would have been the case had she only been a few months pregnant…not being a legal expert, I’m only speculating.

I hope the asshole gets life imprisonment rather than the death penalty. The most appropriate punishment would be for him to rot in prison for the rest of his life, in my opinion.

I hope the floor of his prison cell is covered with vertical sewing pins, and he’s washed down with peroxide everyday so he stays alive to feel the pain.
    Wont happen of course.

So…does that mean that abortion becomes murder when the fetus can be born alive?

“Partial-birth” abortions are already against the law, I think.
